Jubilee Awards - Essex

20 FIRSTS TODAY!! Wow! Great day today in Essex at one of the best attended Medallist competitions the Jubilee Awards have had in my opinion. We go every year, but event this year seemed more packed full of children and adults, than previous years! Special Thank you to Joanne Blackshaw and Elaine Hills for inviting our school and providing us with a superbly smooth run event. First half of the day was dedicated to children's competition which was a terrific success for ALL CDS Children as they all made their Ballroom Finals, coming away with medals and trophies for everyone. This was not an easy task either with the number of entries per event. In the Latin the Children went onto make most

Belgium Dance School Visitors

It was lovely to welcome one of our Professional Belgium students, Alexandra and her husband Luke back to CDS with a team of competitive students ,for the second time. It is always nice to see Alex as she is so enthusiastic and determined, which you can see with the development of her students. The adults and children all spent a full day of workshops in Ballroom & Latin covering competitive techniques and choreography. They have all improved so much from the last time we saw them. After a short break, the kids went onto join the CDS competitive squad training sessions to work with children of their own age, and were very inspired, tired, and already asking when they would be returning next

Gateway Open - Tilbury

It was an excellent day for our competitors who took part in the Gateway Open on the 26th February 2017. CDS came away with some amazing places and as well as a win against a terrific standard of competitors. The rest of the CDS competition team were competing elsewhere today, so some of our students were flying the CDS Flag in Tilbury. Well done everyone... especially Ian & Kirsty who not only did the ISTD Qualifier in the morning/afternoon in Southend, then drove over to Tilbury to take part in the Latin events. Here are their results. Under 14 Junior Ballroom Tom & Emily - 6th Place Open 2 Dance Junior Ballroom Tom & Emily - 4th Place Under 14 Junior Latin Tom & Emily - 5th place Open 2

ISTD Qualifier

It was the first Adult Qualifier of the season and for some, very first ever qualifier. CDS has many new entries into the competition programme, and for some this was their second ever competition. Sunday the 26th February was a very busy day for all the Adults from CDS, 15 students travelled to Southend to compete at their first qualifier of 2017 to try and gain their qualification for Blackpool 2017. CDS ended the day with some great results to start this competition season off. With a possible 30 qualifications we gained 26... yes 26 !!! Thats amazing ! Everyone has been working very hard the last few weeks and they are reaping the rewards of their hard work. Roll on the rest of the year
