What used to be a a gym / dance & fitness space is now only for dancing, with a gorgeous spiral stair case leading to a dance studio holding a reception, changing rooms, and its very own Beauty Salon for all your beautifying needs.

 

Located in the heart of Caterham Valley, we are on the main street,  a 5 minute walk to Caterham Rail Services, and the 407 bus stops right in front of the studio front door.  We are also a minute drive to the M25.

… and when you have finished dancing, you can pop down for a bite at the local restaurants, grab a coffee at Cafe Nero or Costa, and do your shopping at Waitrose or Morrisons!!

 

There is plenty of things to do in Caterham, and local shopping boutiques, florists, banks and pharmacies near by, and accessible car parking too.

Clara Guzzardi, Owner / Co-Principal

Clara was a gymnast since the age of 8 years competing internationally between the ages of 10-14 and

coming 3rd at the Canadian Tumbling Championships in 1982. Having dedicated time in both gymnastics

and dance since this young age, auditioned and was accepted into The Young Canadians School of

Performing Arts.

At 18 years of age, Clara began to specialise in Ballroom & Latin dance, going onto become British Columbia

Champion, in Canada with her former dance partner.  Moving to England in 1994 to dance Internationally with

Damian, still representing Canada, together became the top ranked Amateur Latin couple in North America. 

Clara turned professional in 1996, and was fortunate to be accepted to join the world renowned competitive dance studio,

Dance Options. 

 

Whilst continuing her competitive career, she was being trained by some of the most prestigious and well respected teachers in dance.  In 1998 Clara qualified professionally, and is now recognized by the International Dance Teachers Association, Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance, and the United Kingdom Alliance.

Together both Clara and Damian were UK Closed Professional Latin Finalists, and runners up at the British and Irish South American Showdance Championships.  They were also, British South American Showdance Representatives at the World Championships in years 2001 & 2002. 

 

After finally retiring from competitions, Clara continued to perform with Damian in shows worldwide, teaching, lecturing, and adjudicating in Europe, Asia and North America. In 2011, she and Damian opened their own school, CDS, and is proud to say that in the short time have already developed successful children and adult recreational and competitive programs.  Clara, being a Championship Adjudicator, continues to adjudicate worldwide.

Damian Evans , Owner / Co-Principal

Damian began dancing Ballroom & Latin at the age of 14, at the Merralls School of Dancing on the Wirral.

He progressed rapidly on the open circuit, under the tutelage of Margaret Redmond and the late Eric Lashbrooke

winning his first major title, Pre-Amateur of the year at the age of 17.

Going on to become one of the top youth competitors in both Ballroom and Latin in the country, Damian won

third place in the British National Youth Championships in Latin and whilst still in the Youth category,  travelled

extensively throughout Europe representing Wales.

Damian then moved to London at age 22 to specialise in Latin with his then partner, and soon entered the top 24

couples in the world at the International and UK Open Championships. Whilst living in Perth Australia, he became

the  Lion City, West Australian, Victorian Champion and was Runner up in Australian and Australasian Championships, and 16th in the Open British Latin Championship.  Damian went on to represent Australia at the

World Championships in Oslo.

In 1994 Damian started representing Canada with his now wife, Clara. Together they became the top ranked Amateur Latin couple in North America.  He turned professional in 1996 and was fortunate to be accepted to join the world renowned competitive dance studio, Dance Options.  Whilst continuing his competitive career, he was being trained by some of the most prestigious and well respected teachers in dance.  In 1998 Damian qualified professionally, and is now recognized by the International Dance Teachers Association becoming a Fellow in 2010, the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance, and the United Kingdom Alliance.
