United Kingdom Closed Championships 2017 - DPA Summer Dance Festival
This year some of our open competitors took part at the DPA Summer Dance Festival which held the UK Closed Ballroom & Latin Championships in all levels. There was also, Masters Open competitions which welcomed people not only from the UK but from all over the world.
We not only proudly attended this event, but both Principals of CDS also had the honour of adjudicating on one of the 4 days, Clara on the Thursday and Damian on the Sunday evening.
This is one of the major events in the UK dance calendar, and all of our pupils made us especially proud.

Each day brought a new competitions based on different dances, and naturally new results.
The competition was fierce as many of the top dancers all over the United Kingdom participated wishing to achieve a first place title as UK Closed Champion or even becoming a finalist.
Ian & Kirsty (picture in white Latin) our U35's who over the 4 days performed brilliantly, and would seem they improved each day, making all their finals.
Special mention for their first place in U35 Novice Latin Masters on Friday. (pictured right)

Both Ian & Kirsty have only just started on the Open Circuit and they are going from strength to strength.
Congratulations to Richard & Maria winning the O50's UK Closed Latin Championship title. What a wonderful achievement, after only forming this partnership less than year. Fantastic result to both of you.(pictured)
In the Over 35 categories CDS representatives, Roy and Ashley went onto to winning the UK Masters Pre-Champ Latin title on the Sunday in Cha Cha, Rumba & Jive (pictured Roy & Ashley 1st place - in purple dress) and coming second in the UK Closed Pre Champ section (not pictured).
A further impressive result was making the Senior 2 UK Closed Final as newcomers in that higher level, and fitting right in with a honourable 6th place both very heavy entries.

Excellent results from all our adult couples who participated, we are so very proud of you all and the results were simply astounding.
Other great results included, Tom & Emily making the Under 14's Semi-Final in both Ballroom & Latin on the Sunday, Allen & Lucy making the semi final of the U35 Intermediate Latin, and Olivia & Mia being the only all girl couple to make the quarter final of the NL Juvenile Ballroom Championships.
Once again, thank you has to go out to Nigel Horrocks and all of the DPA Committee on hosting an amazing event. It must of truly been an enormous undertaking.
