First Medallist Competition of the Year Herne Bay 22 Jan 2017

January 24, 2017

Congratulations to all our pupils on what was the first medallist competition of 2017.

CDS had a terrific day at The Herne Bay Dance Festival this past Sunday. Although, our full team was not present, we still took home 13 first places, 16 seconds, 11 thirds and 25 other final places.  Sometimes CDS managed to have 4 pupils out of 6 final places, which is truly outstanding.

Special congratulations to our first place winners, Lucia who managed to win both her Ballroom and Latin categories in Pre-Bronze but also this was her very first ever Junior competition. In addition to gaining these terrific results, she was the next one into the Viennese Waltz final tied with Katherine, also from CDS, out of 50 entries.  Making the Viennese final however was our lovely Teresa, who came second.

Other first places include, Olivia who came first in her Juv Pre-Bronze Waltz, Paulina who came first in Social Dance Test (SDT) Jive, Olivia & Mia for their couples Waltz.  Adult wins went to Matt who won first timers  O35 Waltz, Nicola H, who won 3 out of 4 categories entered, the U35 first timers Waltz,  U35 SDT Waltz, and U35 First timers CC.

Julie winning both her categories, the O35 SDT Waltz, and CC.  Katherine B, for winning O50 Silver Tango, Sally Ann winning O50 Bronze CC.  Teresa winning both her categories, O35 above Gold Tango, and O50s Silver Rumba.

Couples events first place also went to Matt & Julie winning the O35 up to Bronze CC. Congratulations indeed!!

Special mention goes to Rod & Jane who participated in their very first ever dance competition and managed to make nearly all their finals beating some very good dancers in the process.

Everyone dance terrific today and it was lovely to see such a fantastic turn out by so many schools, especially some new ones, which added to the difficulty of the standard. We loved the challenge and its great to see such support for the competition.
